About John Dziobko

John Dziobko John Dziobko, Jr., was born in Newark, N.J., in 1932 and at a young age was enthralled by the trains that ran near him. Specifically, the old steam engines that were commonplace until the early 1950's, but also the colorful new diesels that were replacing them seemingly everywhere. Unlike many of his contemporaries, John decided at a early point in his photography to use color film as his medium of choice, almost exclusively. Because of that decision, John has accrued a body of work that is colorized in an era when black and white, large format film still ruled as the standard photographic medium. And, it proved to be a wise decision as today color shots of most railroad subjects from the era are rare and highly sought after by the rail enthusiast community and those who like to peer back at life in America in general during this era. John has been published in many books and periodicals, and has his own website where many of his photos can be perused through in a gallery-like setting. http://www.GodfatherRails.com
